CNY-themed CSR at nursing home

Chinese New Year often centres on family dinners, visits, and new clothes. For many seniors in nursing homes, the season can feel quieter.

We designed a CNY-themed CSR experience that brought herbal scents, simple crafts, and heartfelt conversations into a nursing home. Corporate volunteers, seniors, and our Qi Qi Boom team came together to create small CNY moments that felt warm, dignified, and joyful.

Since February 2025, when Qi Qi Boom was launched, we have supported over 800 seniors across five nursing homes and 12 senior care centres.

Our work focuses on aroma and wellness. We teach seniors simple ways to care for themselves using gentle exercises that improve blood circulation, lift mood, and support better sleep.

At the heart of it all is 香. When you smell good, you feel good. Think about the days when you feel off because you smell stale or sweaty. Now imagine the opposite, a light, comforting scent that makes you feel fresh, cared for, and more yourself. That is the experience we want to bring into nursing homes and senior centres through Qi Qi Boom.

Why CNY themed CSR at a nursing home

Instead of a one-way donation, the aim was to create an experience:

• Seniors get to create and receive something of their own

• Volunteers have meaningful interactions beyond a quick visit

• The nursing home gains a structured yet simple programme that they can repeat

We chose aroma and herbs because they are:

• Familiar to many seniors

• Gentle and multi-sensory

• Easy to adapt for different abilities
